Flow Forward Migration
Salesforce has officially announced that Workflow Rules and Process Builder will be retired on December 31, 2025. After that, these tools will no longer receive support or updates, and may stop functioning altogether.
"We strongly recommend customers migrate to Flow before the retirement date to avoid business disruption."
-Salesforce Product Team, March 24, 2025
⚠️ Why You Shouldn't Wait?
- Losing Support - Salesforce Support will no longer assist with any Process Builder or Work Flow rule issues.
- Locked-In - Modifications to Process Builders or Work Flow Rules are expected to be restricted - even for a typo or logic change. Only deactivation may be possible.
- Will Break - Legacy automations may continue to operate past the deadline, but probably not for long and certainly without reliability or risk.
- Migration can be complex - While Salesforce does provide a migration tool, its limitations (fully documented) are greater than its capabilities, meaning most legacy automation still needs manual development -- and at minimum testing.
- Q4 Consultant Rush - Migration to Flow will become more expensive and urgent as the deadline expires, as skilled consultants in Q4 may be fully booked.
📢 According to Salesforce
"We recommend implementing a plan to migrate any active rules or processes to Flow Builder before the deadline. Depending on the complexity of your org, this migration may take a significant amount of time and testing, so we recommend starting now."
-Salesforce Product Team, March 24, 2025
❓ Does My Org Have Legacy Automations?
Most orgs, unless very recent implementations have at least some legacy automations still active.
You can identify whether you have active workflow rules by going to Setup > Process Automation > Workflow Rules and sorting the Active column for checkmarks.
You can identify whether you have active Process Builder processes by going to Setup > Process Automation > Process Builder and sorting the Status column for Active.
Please reach out if you or your team needs assistance verifying.
